National Child Loss Day

Today is National Child Loss Day, President Reagan signed it during his time in office. My mom and step dad drove up on Thursday and spent the weekend with us. Or as Lily said "New Grandma and Grandpa". We attended the Walk to Remember on Saturday, along with Ryan's parents. It meant so much to have our families here for the event.

I worked on getting the scarves done last week, 21 scarves were made for the event. I was a little worried about the scarves because it has been in the 70-80s lately, but a cold snap hit Denver and it was wet and cold the day of the walk. Our group of "Team Triple J" looked super smart having scarves on and it made it so easy to find each other in the crowd.

There was a silent auction at the event, my mom was kind enough to bid on a wall hanging quilt and won it for me after beating out another serious bidder. I just love it, I'm going to hang it in my sewing room. Notice the balloons and doves, as they are released at the walk. The money earned goes to buy bereavement baskets to be given to area hospitals, each basket costs $40, see below if you would like to donate a basket in Jillian's honor.

The balloon release was beautiful, here are some pictures. Ryan, Lily, Larry and Carol left prior to the balloon release, Lily was so cold and I didn't want her to get sick. Her poor nose was so red! Unfortunately, they were unable to release the doves due to the weather. Apparently they can't find their way home if the skies are not clear.

Later we all went back over to Jill's house for a little indoor BBQ, oh my goodness the food was so amazing!
You've probably noticed my "new" look to my blog, I've added blogs that I read and my favorite charities are listed. It's getting towards the end of the year and if you are looking for a place to donate, I've listed the organizations that have been so helpful to our family. You can check out each charity, the Walk to Remember will be offering the baskets soon on their website. Keep checking if you would like to donate a basket!

Thanks again for all of your support this year. It's so wonderful to know we are surrounded by such wonderful family and friends!
